Teacher Resources
Welcome to the Kaye Kessing / Bilby’s Ring Teacher Resource page. This science-based native animal adventure story is a ‘quest’ narrative, ideal for school years 4 to 7.
With rich and detailed descriptions of Australian habitats and their inhabitants (both native and feral), a broad geography of Australia traversed from west to east, exciting attack, escape and resolution events, Bilby’s Ring also offers a view of humans as an ‘other’ species. These make it an ideal teaching text in the areas of English, Geography and Biological Science, with entry points into many areas of the Australian Curriculum.
Teacher Resource Notes with curriculum links are provided by Dr Bronwyn Parkin, University of Adelaide (SA), School of Humanities (Linguistics); synopses and other writing by Kaye Kessing, author/illustrator. Read a sample here.
